On my visit to Kakamega County, Mumias west constituency on 22nd March 2022, I luckily held a brief discussion with the current Member of Parliament Honorable Johnson Manya Naicca popularly known as ‘Mbuyu’.
He has been serving as a member of parliament of Mumias west constituency for the last 10 years. He has led to development of many projects in this region such as improving infrastructures like (Mumias-Musanda) road, improving education sectors by supporting the needy students in high schools, colleges and the universities, funding for construction of classes and even funding for school buses.
Currently, he is still one of the members whom we are expecting to appear on the ballot to vie for the same position.
The question comes here, why should he vie again for the third time? In our brief discussion, he mentioned that he has not yet fulfilled his dreams. His aim is to ensure that he supports most youths to pursue different courses which they fit in order increase the number of professionals within the region. Besides, he feels that he is strong enough and well experienced to continue serving the region without stress.
“It is advisable that most youths currently should see how I am struggling and aiming to support them in various fields and follow the same paths, instead of allowing themselves to be confused by some politicians to bring conflicts in different gatherings during this election period of which some end up losing their lives while others endanger lives of their close relatives emotionally and through physical wars,” he stated.
It is noted that most youths currently, more so bodaboda riders are being misdirected by some politicians to bring conflicts in the political gatherings. He advises youths to stay peaceful for this period.
Why should a number of school drop outs increase when we are assured of such support? How will the most youths participate in crime cases when they are sure of such support from their leaders? The country is in need of more than 90% of the literate people in a few years to come.
It is advisable that other leaders should eager the same aims as Honorable Manya Naicca so as to improve the development of the country. High number of people with professional skills will lead to vigorous development of the country since they fit to work in different fields if in case they are hired both nationally and internationally.
Politicians should not only aim to fulfill their personal targets, they should consider their voters as first priority.
