Dr Thuo Mathenge donating relief food to families in Mugunda ward, Kieni constituency yesterday

Nyeri County based industrialist cum politician Dr Thuo Mathenge yesterday visited part of the drought striken Kieni constituency where he offered famine relief to hundreds of local families.
Dr Mathenge gave out assorted foodstuffs to the affected families as he called on both the national and county governments to make urgent intervention.
Apart from the local people, livestock in the area are also in dire need of feeds.
The businessman who runs Abantu Africa Resort and BradeGate industries also called on wellwishers to chip and help the affected families.
Dr Mathenge who came second during the county gubernatorial race in August said despite losing during the polls, he would continue assisting the needy where he can.
Kieni constituency that comprises Kieni East and Kieni West sub-counties covers slightly over 50 per cent of the entire county and is semi-arid in nature.
More than 30 per cent of the area population is in need of famine relief with livestock also requiring feeds.
