At COP29, world leaders meet,
Where earth’s pulse and climate speak,
A fragile globe, warm at the seams,
Riddled by floods and fevered streams.
Once blue skies now masked in grey,
Forests burn, then fade away,
Oceans rise, our shores retreat,
An urgent crisis at our feet.
Governments rise, their voices blend,
Yet promises alone won’t mend,
Words must leap from paper’s page,
To douse the flames of nature’s rage.
The challenge vast, the hour late,
But courage now must animate,
For winds of change require might—
To turn our fears to future’s light.
Energy clean, renew the vow,
Fossil fuels, we must disavow,
Solar beams and breezes bold,
Offer power to break the hold.
Nations rich must bear the weight,
Aid the poor to innovate,
Plant the trees, restore the land,
Heal with nature, hand in hand.
Laws for earth, not profits’ gains,
Lessen floods, decrease the pains,
Rivers pure and skies pristine,
Stand as visions yet unseen.
Oh, COP29, let this be true—
A greener earth for me and you,
For children born to skies of blue,
Where hope and action are renewed.
