Laikipia County governor Joshua Irungu
Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu yesterday graced a community Engagement and Public Participation by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries at Lobere and Ndindika Dams, in Githiga Ward, Laikipia West Sub County.
In his manifesto, Governor Joshua Irungu promised the people of Laikipia to tap the potential that Laikipia holds by upscaling irrigation as a means of food production and wealth creation for farmers.
With this interest at heart, the Governor is engaging communities around the dams so as to kickstart the mapping of the dams, that shall give way for desiltation and expansion.
Mr. Dennis Kasoo, CECM Agriculture, highlighted on his commitment to continue engaging communities, educating and sharing knowledge on best farming practices that shall have more productivity and thus more income for the farmers.
The Governor was accompanied by Laikipia West MP, Dr Wachira Karani, the Ag. Chief Officer Elizabeth Mwangi, Kirima Sub County ACC, Gathaara Gathuo, Githiga Ward MCA Gitahi Macharia, Political Advisor Mr Lemarei Kaparo and a host of other County Government of Laikipia Officers.
