Kenyan women have strongly come out of the early obvious notion based on gender that women cannot be able leaders. Female role in politics has broken the bias in the masculinity society. This has come out clearly when the political veteran Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga appointed Martha Karua as his running mate in his 5th attempt for Presidential race. In addition, several counties across the nation, women have secured top seats. For instance, Nakuru county leadership has been taken over by a good percentage of women according to elective posts and many other counties where women have won different seats. Susan Kihika, the Governor elect of Nakuru County is a good motive and inspiration and also Millie Odhiambo and Linet Chepkurui alias Toto, women representative- Bomet county who despised her societal status. Susan competently defeated the latter governor, Lee Kinyanjui, and other examples of women who were competing with male aspirants.
Women face so many challenges in politics especially when they are competing with some male aspirants in their elective positions. Some of male aspirants do not accept the outcome of the elections until the woman candidate is declared a winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission( IEBC) They are subjected to assaults from their opponent(s)-the male and yet they have family responsibility.
Women leadership should be embraced and taken whole-heartedly in different positions despite of the gender biasness at all levels. They should be involved in governance by electing them in various positions of the government. A good example is the Tanzanian President- Samiah Suluhu who succeeded the late John Pombe Magufuli of the latter nation.
