Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi yesterday hosted hundreds of children to an exciting Christmas party at his rural home in Mathira, Nyeri County.
The more than 4,000 children started thronging the residence as early as 7.00 am for the incredible day-long fete, where they were treated to an assortment of entertainment activities including performances by members of the Police Force.
The event was in fulfilment of a promise the Deputy President made to the children last October during a development working tour in Mt Kenya region.
The children were also entertained by a group of police women through dancing moves. The officers were also taking care of the children during the event, a move that the Deputy President said was commendable.
“I am happy that police officers who volunteered to entertain the children. We have a police service that serves the people, a service that is friendly to everybody. It is the reason we have police officers here today mingling with children, showing them love, care and entertaining them and interacting with them. Because it is no longer a police force but service. I happy officers have spent time playing with you and taking care of you. That is the modern Kenya,” said the Deputy President.

On education, he said the Kenya Kwanza administration has streamlined the Competency-based Curriculum (CBC) structure to align it with the needs of Kenyan children.
“We love the children and we wish them the best. President William Ruto and I have gone out of our way to secure future of the Kenyan children because this generation is Kenya, our country is the young people. It is the reason the President formed a presidential working party to streamline the CBC and reform other education programs to align them with what is good for our children. Our government has also employed 56,000 teachers to improve the pupil-teacher pupil,” he said as he delivered Christmas greetings from President William Ruto.
Pastor Dorcas said they will organise a similar Fun Day next year and share the gift of God’s love.

On the crackdown against illicit brews, the Deputy President said the exercise is bearing fruits since families are coming together and youths are marrying and siring children.
