In a resolute effort to combat climate change, various government institutions have come together to launch an initiative aimed at making Mandera greener and more sustainable.
The exciting project focuses on tree planting, environmental conservation, and sustainable agriculture to combat desertification and restore the region’s natural landscape.
Key players, including Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), are committed to planting thousands of trees across the county while promoting eco-friendly policies to protect Mandera’s vulnerable environment.
Jillo Wako, Branch Manager at KCB Mandera, emphasized the bank’s dedication to this cause, particularly in schools, stating that the initiative will continue until Mandera achieves 100% forest cover. So far, KCB has planted over 10,000 trees, making a tangible impact in the fight against climate change!
Mandera Secondary School Principal Noor Sheikh expressed his gratitude, noting how these trees have improved the learning environment for students, creating a more comfortable and enriching educational experience.
The collaborative effort is just the beginning, with more organisations expected to join the green movement in Mandera.
