As she strolled across the meadows of heaven’s delight
Her steps dancing to the song of trinkets shimmering bright,
She chanced on Cupid, in armour bright,
His body, a mesomorph, upright by the riverbed’s gentle flow
His eyes sapphire, darting over the earth, burning with mischief’s glow
His bow of bronze steady, an arrow of gold ready to take flight
“How far, this time, will you shoot?” she asked
Her voice a gentle breeze,
Her words echoing sweetly in a summer’s ease.
“As far as this arrow of love can wander,” replied he
“As long as the heart of man can burn with desire,
As deep as the mind of man can ponder and explore,
For only in life can this arrow slumber and ignite the soul.”
With her eyes she saw, that a sculpture of wood and clay,
With a life as brief as day, had the freedom of cheer and merry,
To live a love of both pleasure and pain
That glazed with a flame of hope and mercy,
A fancy to the gods who are so high and mighty,
A longing for her soul hungry and thirsty.
Her mind resolved and bold,
Though by an arrow, her life be controlled,
She would rather share the fate of the young and old
Thus she then descended the ladder of gold
Her feet landing on earth’s dusty road
And the heavens cried out in sorrow’s plight
For the loss of a princess to the mortals’ world.
