Homa Bay residents during a procession yesterday

A somber mood engulfed Homa Bay town yesterday following the news of the sudden death of Raila Odinga.
Hundreds of residents thronged the streets in a solemn mourning procession, paying tribute to the veteran opposition leader, whom they hailed as a visionary statesman, a father figure, and a unifying pillar for not only Luo community but the entire Kenyan Nation.
“We are indeed very sad with Raila’s passing on. We are overwhelmed, we have lost a brother, a father figure, and national leader,it pains a lot,” said Tom Mboya, a resident.
“This is a time for Kenyans to remain calm and maintain peace, as we grieve this great loss,” he added.
Homa Bay Sub- County Bodaboda Chairman, William Ouma, urged the public to stay prayerful and to uphold peace, during the mourning period and thereafter in respect of Baba who meant well for every Kenyan.
Many residents remembered Odinga as a selfless and devoted leader, who tirelessly fought for democracy, justice, and the welfare of ordinary citizens.
