Lawyer Patrick Ngunjiri has said he is the best bet for Othaya constituency parliamentary seat and called on the local voters to support his bid.
“I am the best candidate for the Othaya parliamentary seat I have the best manifesto and I have demonstrated that I can perform,” the lawyer said yesterday during a morning talk show on Inooro TV where he was hosted by Kamau Wa Kang’ethe.
During the show, Ngunjiri outlined various proposals he intend to work on in his bid to uplift the living standards of the residents.
He said he has successfully brought positive changes in the te sector which have seen farmers almost double their income within a short time that the changes have been in effect.
This week, he revealed, tea farmers in Othaya constituency alone have pocketed over Sh600 million for the second payment which is popularly known as bonus.
Further, he noted, coffee farmers were smiling all the way to the bank after receiving record payment last week.
He disclosed that farmers in the coffee sector last week received a total of more than 300 million for the coffee they produced in the last season.
Ngunjiri who is vying on Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party said he had already started an initiative that will see Avocado farmers in the area earn more from the produce.
In the pipeline, he said is an initiative that will benefit macadamia farmers and dairy farmers in the area.
“I would like to call on Othaya voters to support my bid so that we can move together in ensuring they leap maximum benefits from their produce,” he said.
The lawyer who was instrumental in the tea reforms being enjoyed across the country said he will streamline National Government – Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) funds which he said were not appropriately utilised by the two successful committees that have run them since 2013 when the former area MP, the late President Mwai Kibaki retired.
Ngunjiri is facing challenge from among others, the Incumbent Gichuki Mugambi who is defending his seat on Jubilee ticket, former NG-CDF chairman between 2013 and 3017 Michael Wambugu Wainaina alias Mt Kenya, human rights activists David Kimengere alias Sauti Ya Mnyonge and Planner Lawrence Kagwi alias Think Tank.
