I write not for fame nor accolades
I write not with ink nor paper
I write not what you want to read
I write what you like not
I don’t write for you
I write for me
I write with my thoughts and emotions scattered all over the place
I write with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart
I write to silence the voices in my head
I write to numb the pain in my heart
I write to escape this poisoned earth
I write to free myself from your claws
I write to rub off the venom you emit
I write to mourn the child I never got to meet
I write to stay afloat in this raging sea
I don’t write for you
I write for me
Spare me your validation I need it not
Spare me those praises I hear them not
Spare me those prizes for they are nothing but heavy ornaments
Next time you read what I wrote
And peruse what I write
Know that I write but not for you
