The sixth chapter of the Inclusive Africa Conference is set to unfold in Nairobi from June 3rd to 5th. Orchestrated by inABLE, a nonprofit organisation that empowers young people with disabilities in Africa through inclusive education, assistive technology, and digital accessibility, this gathering will bring together a rare mix of tech visionaries, change agents, and grassroots voices with a focus on rethinking how innovation can reach and empower persons often left at the digital margins.
The Inclusive Africa Conference 2025 theme, “Scaling Digital Accessibility through innovation & Entrepreneurship,” will focus on how artificial intelligence is being incorporated as a catalyst for assistive technology solutions across sectors, including financial, education, travel, and public transport. A selected cohort of 15 innovators will pitch their assistive technology solutions to possible funders and venture capitalists.
“In today’s increasingly digital world, accessibility is not a luxury or an afterthought but a fundamental human right and a critical foundation for full economic participation. We will also observe the world Day for Assistive Technology during the conference,” said Irene Mbari-Kirika, Founder and Executive Director inABLE,
The conference will bring together global tech leaders such as Google, Microsoft, Uber, Intuit, Meta, and the Mastercard Foundation who will share the floor with educators, policymakers, design thinkers, and advocates representing people with disabilities. Together, they aim to move beyond buzzwords and delve into actionable frameworks for inclusivity spanning software, public services, mobile platforms, and education.
Held in Nairobi, the event will highlight the ongoing harmonization of ICT Accessibility policies for people with disabilities in Africa, focusing on the Persons with Disabilities Act 2025, signed by President, William Ruto, in May 2025. This progressive bill provides a comprehensive legal framework for the rights and protection of persons with disabilities, aligning with the Kenyan Constitution and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with disabilities.
