With the rising number of road carnage in Kenya, most if the blame going towards vehicle manufacturer and assemblers. Isuzu East Africa has been vocal on the need for ensuring that drivers have the required skills before embarking on roads.
The Isuzu East Africa (EA) assembly plant in Nairobi recently hosted its second regional aftersales and sales challenge , the “Isuzu EA – 1 Grand-Prix Competition,” aimed at testing Knowledge and skills in motor vehicle parts , service advisory and repair expertise. Over 60 technicians, service advisors, and sales representatives from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania were present.
While addressing the event Managing Director Rita Kavashe who recently appointed as the chair of the Isuzu EA Board highlighted and emphasized the importance of technical proficiency in ensuring road safety, aligning with the competition’s theme of ‘Keeping our roads safe, one vehicle at a time.’

Julius Ndegwa, Isuzu EA Director Aftersales & Channel Development, stressed the significance of upskilling automotive technicians and drivers on road safety, citing the Eyes on the Road Campaign aimed at promoting driver wellness and vehicle reliability.
George Wambugu, Managing Director of Thika Motor Dealers (TMD) and Chairman of the Isuzu EA Dealers Council, praised the expertise shown in the competition, highlighting its contribution to fulfilling Isuzu’s promises to customers. Mr. Masakazu Fukasawa, Vice President, Aftersales Division, Isuzu Motors International FZE, commended Isuzu EA for hosting the Grand Prix competition, which will enhance aftersales teams’ skills to ensure Isuzu vehicles’ performance and safety for customers.
The competition, held at the Isuzu EA Plant in Nairobi, featured four categories: Service Technical (CV Division), Service Advisor, Spare Parts, and Vehicle Sales. Winners will represent Isuzu East Africa at the annual global Isuzu Grand Prix competition. In 2023, Isuzu EA technicians achieved 11th position out of 33, an improvement from 2022, demonstrating the region’s commitment to providing high-quality aftersales support.
