It is verifiable, it is known by all and it is easily visible that every human is gifted with two ears and one mouth. The work of ears is basically to hear while the main work of the mouth is to eat and speak. Some people tend to argue we should listen twice before we speak and when we speak we do it once for every twice listening.
Great negotiators are great listeners. They listen more than they talk.
You should be listening to understand rather than to reply.
Some people tend to think seeing is same with listening and that is why if they happen not to understand an issue and you use demonstration or they visualize what you are explaining to them they reply by saying ï see”.
Listening enables us to imagine a lot of issues, become more creative, innovate and enjoy wide range of interpretations.
Listening help us to further understand images as we are able to hear addition information about what our eyes can see or our bodies can feel.
Good listening will help you to achieve a lot of benefits below being some of them.
It helps to resolve conflicts. Giving an ear to someone will help you to know what one have to say, what one wants, what one hates, what worries the speaker.
Watching someone while speaking will help you to learn his or her emotions whether happy or angry
When you understand both the verbal and nonverbal forms of communication of someone you will be able to deal with him or her in the best possible way under different situations and through this you will minimize conflicts with that person and foster healthy relationship.
Make you to be more appreciated. When you are a careful listener the speaker will develop the attitude of liking you. You will also be seen as a person who values others, cares for others and is patience with the needs of others.
Participate in building of trust. Keen listening helps you to understand the subject being discussed and ask the right questions this will aid you to know what motivates the speaker and what the speaker values. Upon understanding all these you will be able to assist the speaker to get what he or she want and this will build trust.
Help to inspire people. Great listening requires great patience. Listening to someone will empower him or her to talk, express opinions, feels attended to and understood.
When the topic being discussed is exciting and the intentions are great then listening will inspire the speaker to continue with the great plans.
Build and strengthen team work. When you are a good listener you will show patience to others and you will wait for them to speak as you listen.
When you understand what the speaker was saying you are able to raise relevant questions, know the speaker concerns, give the right support to the speaker, with this every team member will feel valued, listened to, cared for, supported and respected , thrive well and facilitate blossoming of good relationship.
Perform well in examinations. Good listeners understand more and they are able to remember more, ask relevant questions. In case of students good listeners are able to answer the questions correctly due to their thorough understanding of the subject resulting to attainment of high scores.
Increase level of clarity. When you are attentive and listen with keenness you are able to clearly understand what is being said void of misunderstanding and confusion and you will also be able to see what is happening
In addition good listening will aid you to ask the right questions with clarity and confidence; once you get response for queries raised your clarity on the subject will be enhanced further.

In conclusion read and read and read and understand the merits of careful listen after that practice until you become one of them.
