Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has dismissed the latest call for national dialogue by President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement on his social media account on Tuesday, July 8, called for the implementation of the constitution, as previous reports on dialogue have failed to solve partinent issues raised by Kenyans, including the National Dialogue Committee Report (NACDO).
“The Waki, Ndungu, TJRC, Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), NADCO reports. All these reports were done under ‘dialogues’, how many more? The writing is on the wall. Implement the constitution,” Kioni said.
According to him, the meeting held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), was strategic and for the political class to work against the Gen Z protests that have shaken the Kenya Kwanza government.
“Fellow Kenyans, if you’re wondering what just happened at the KICC, it is all by design. The guardians of the Kenyan state wield their power relentlessly to ensure its survival against any violent threat that could undermine its very foundation ,” he added.
He further added that the strategy was to position the political class as fully being involved in the issues affecting the country, this calling for a national dialogue, that could form a way for the discourse of the country, while deviating attention and shunning from the reality in the country, which he said is further leading the country into a recurring political crisis.
“They strategically deploy the political class like pawns, engaging them in different actions disguised as necessary measures in the name dialogues and reports that push the boundaries of acceptable violence and political grandstanding. When these actions push too far, the political class is compelled to intervene, ostensibly rescuing the state from its own people and thereby avoiding what appears to be a precipice but is in reality a recurring political crisis,” he further stated.
Earlier in Tuesday, Ruto in company of both top leaders from Kenya Kwanza and Azimioa One Kenya Coalition, assented on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Bill into law.
He said the signing marked the beginning of the reconstruction of the IEBC, which was among the nine proposals made by the NADCO report. He further expressed his confident on the reconstruction will solve issues raised by the protesting youths.
However, Kenyans have expressed their displeasure from the move, terming it as a form of betrayal from the political class.
