The growing town, soon to be promoted to a municipality, makes it an easy target for criminals who commit daytime muggings and disappear on motorcycles.
Kagaa, home to high-end residential buildings, gated communities, and low-budget rental houses, is home to over 15,000 people, most working in Kenol town, Thika, Kabati, and its surroundings.
Victims have reported violence in their homes for resisting robberies.
The residents have highlighted the need for officers attached to the Kagaa Police Post to reside there and have a functional vehicle available to attend to emergencies.
They believe that adding more officers will deter criminals, but having officers spend their nights there will beef up security.
Murang’a South Deputy County Commissioner Gitonga Murungi has urged residents to pass information that would help weed out criminals, promising that no one will be victimised for providing information that will help return sanity to the Kagaa area.
The DCC encourages residents to talk to them, as the criminals are among them and are well known to them.
