Azimio One Kenya Alliance running mate Martha Karua says said Thursday’s incident where a teargas was lobbed before she could address a rally will not intimidate her from conveying the coalition’s message to Kenyans.
This is after the meeting ended prematurely after a device believed to be a teargas canister exploded shortly before the coalition’s presidential candidate running mate Martha Karua started addressing the gathering.
Karua and other leaders were whisked to safety during the stampede as members of the public scampered for safety during the incident which left several people including journalists injured and chairs were broken.
Speaking in Ekerenyo in Nyamira County during a campaign rally, Karua said they will not be intimidated about yesterday chaos that disrupted the meeting.
“Yesterday’s chaos at the Gusii stadium, let them know we are unshakable that’s why I am here today to hunt votes for Raila Odinga,” she said.
She noted that the meeting was not only intended for women but also for the youth.
She added that Karua said Azimio One Kenya Alliance Coalition has a big share for everyone in the Kenyan nation from women, men, youth children and people with disability therefore she called residents in Nyamira to vote for the Azimio la Umoja Government.
“The Azimio coalition is peaceful and therefore we are seeking for your votes in a peaceful manner without intending to cause chaos,” she stated.
“I urge women to turn out in large and vote we will make sure the message has sunk in the minds of women in Kenya,” she said.
She urged the voters to vote for Raila Odinga on August 9 poll and pleaded to the youths not to be misused by some politicians not to cause violence.
