Medical supplies authority combines commodity donations and tree planting in Embakasi outreach

The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority marked Customer Service Week 2026 yesterday with a community outreach at Embakasi Health Centre, where KEMSA Commercial Director Eliud Muriithi led a team that donated essential medical commodities to the facility and planted trees on its grounds.
The initiative was held under this year’s Customer Service Week theme, “Going the Extra Mile,” and was designed to take KEMSA’s service commitment beyond its warehouses and directly into the communities its supply chain is meant to support.
Muriithi said the donation was intended to assist healthcare workers in maintaining quality services for patients, while the tree planting reflected the authority’s recognition that healthy communities also require a healthy environment.
Under Chief Executive Officer Dulacha Ejersa, KEMSA has placed growing emphasis on service responsiveness, stakeholder engagement and community impact as integral parts of its institutional mandate rather than additions to it.
The Embakasi outreach combined immediate practical support — medical commodities for a facility serving a densely populated area of Nairobi — with a longer-term environmental contribution, illustrating what officials described as a holistic understanding of public service.
KEMSA said the initiative reflects its broader determination to move beyond its traditional supply chain role and generate tangible social value for the communities at the centre of Kenya’s public health system.
