Kenya Begins Preparations for Regional MSME Trade Fair Set for November

Kenya has officially set the wheels in motion for the upcoming East African Community Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (EAC MSME) Trade Fair, as the National Organising Committee was unveiled in Nairobi.
The event drew key stakeholders from both public and private sectors, was presided over by Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, Wycliffe Oparanya, who emphasized the importance of creating space for small businesses to thrive beyond borders, highlighting the role of MSMEs in job creation, innovation, and economic resilience.
“This trade fair is more than just an exhibition. It is a platform for our people to dream bigger and to trade freely across the region. I call on county governments, financial institutions, and development partners to rally behind local enterprises preparing to participate in the event,” he stated.
He further stated that this is a shared commitment to position MSMEs at the heart of inclusive growth.
“Kenya will be at the heart of learning best practices and cultural exchange,” Oparanya added.
This year’s trade fair, the 25th edition, will run from November 1st to 10th, bringing together thousands of entrepreneurs, innovators, and business leaders from across the region. It also coincides with President William Ruto’s term as chair of the EAC Summit, placing Kenya at the center of regional economic cooperation and enterprise development .
Principal Secretary for MSMEs Development Susan Mangeni, noted that the trade fair presents an opportunity to showcase home grown talent and products that reflect the diversity and creativity of the East African people.
“MSMEs are the heartbeat of our economies. Through this fair, we want to open doors for them to connect, learn, and grow,” she remarked.
With preparations now officially underway, the committee is expected to coordinate logistics, participant outreach, and regional engagement over the next few months. Stakeholders anticipate a vibrant display of products ranging from handicrafts and fashion to agri-business innovations and digital services.
As the host nation, Kenya is positioning itself not only as a centre of commerce but also as a champion for inclusive growth. Organisers say this year’s event will place a special focus on youth-led enterprises, women in business, and sustainable production practices.
The EAC MSME Trade Fair is one of the region’s longest running business showcases, having grown steadily in participation and impact over the years. It rotates among member states annually and is known for fostering cross-border trade, networking, and policy dialogue.
This November, all eyes will be on Nairobi as the city prepares to welcome East Africa’s entrepreneurial spirit under one roof.
