Kenya School of Government (KSG) marked a significant milestone with the launch of its Strategic Plan 2023-2027 on Friday. The launch heralds a new era of strategic direction with the theme: A New Dawn of Capacity Development in the Public Service.” This Strategic Plan aligns with development policy, strategies and work-plans of the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda and other international instruments such as the SDGs, Africa Agenda 2063, the East Africa Community Vision 2050, as well as other legal and policy documents.
At the launch, KSG’s Ag. Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed said that the Strategic Plan initiates various efforts such as rebranding the School through its programs and activities. These initiatives are designed to elevate the institution’s profile and impact within the educational landscape of Kenya and beyond.
One of the highlights of the Strategic Plan is the collaboration with East African partners for sustainable development courses. This regional approach underscores KSG’s commitment to fostering cross-border cooperation and addressing shared challenges through capacity development.
The Strategic Plan also shifts focus from generic curriculum development to more targeted ones including the implementation of “fit-for-purpose” courses tailored to meet specific needs and challenges faced by public service sectors across the country and Africa.
Outlined in the Plan are several pillars aimed at driving the institution forward:
Development and implementation of “fit-for-purpose” courses, Enhancement of public service course delivery, Creation of globally competitive educational programs, Cultivation of a high-performance, Advancement of government paradigms, Implementation of open government partnerships, Promotion of transformative public service practices and Leveraging digital technologies to enhance learning and service delivery
The launch event concluded with a commitment from KSG leadership to efficiently execute the Strategic Plan, ensuring its objectives are met over the next five years. This proactive approach seeks to position KSG as a leader in public sector capacity building, driving innovation and excellence in governance and administration.
