Just a day to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations, the battle for Kericho County Gubernatorial race intensifies as aspirants team up in a bid to win the seat.
Yesterday Dr Erick Mutai a front runner in the race and Eng Fred Kirui resolved to work as a team where in the agreement Dr. Mutai will run as Governor while Eng. Fred Kirui will be his Deputy, making the race complicated for former Energy CS Charles Keter.
In a press conference they issued jointly yesterday morning in Kericho town to declare their joint aspirations, the leaders said they came to a conclusion to work together as per calls from their supporters and after intervention from other leaders from the region led by Kapsoit MCA Paul Chirchir Tarimbo.
Eng. Fred said putting their differences aside to work together with Mutai shows that they have put first the interests of the area residents.
The two leaders pledged to work together to take Kericho to greater heights in development and empower the youth as well as create jobs at the county level.
They asked Kericho residents to embrace and maintain peace during and after UDA nominations on Thursday.
Dr Mutai will be facing the former Energy CS Charles Keter, Kericho Deputy Governor Lily Ng’ok and Professor James sang in the UDA nominations on Thursday.
So far Kericho Gubernatorial race has one independent candidate Engineer Elijah Maru.
