Few days after the presidential swearing in people living with disabilities has called upon the leaders to pave way for them to exercise their rights to leadership of the nation. This comes after two persons living with the condition was missing in the Kenya Gazette and yet they were on the IEBC List on Mid of July this year.
Beatrice Chepkoech Langat and Kipkorir Benjamin said their names were shot changed by the political leaders unto which they nominated their relatives and also their friends for their heart full desires.
‘We know exactly what some of the people in Kericho county are undergoing due to they never set a space for the disabilities in the last regime and to date we only ask our creator to fight for us’,Ms Langat said .
She blames the county leadership for not giving a chance to the PWLDs as per the constitution of the nation.
While speaking after holding a peaceful demonstration in the streets of Kericho town today Ms Langat said for several years PLWDs have been neglected and denied to access to government entities contrary to the constitution of the nation.

‘Am soo much distress to learn that my name is missing on the Kenya Gazette and yet was on the IEBC list how does its came to lost; this are questions we call upon the Kericho leaders spearheaded by Governor Erick Mutai to share a clue for what happened immediately before the swearing in ceremony of MCAs which is set to take place on Tuesday next week’, Kipkorir said.
The chair of persons living with disabilities in Kericho County Raymond Cheruiyot said the removal of the persons seems to be negligence and denying of power share to the human beings in the community.
‘The removal of names has created a bad picture of the newly elected leaders meaning they will abuse the powers of the office rather than delivering to the community’, Cheruyot said.
The former Nominated MCA in the 3rd Parliament Geoffrey Bii said people with disabilities have been neglected in the county government of Kericho contrary to the constitution of the nation.
Bii said on the last regime no any person living with disabilities were nominated and after moving a case to court they lost the case.
‘What’s happening with us din we have no right to be leaders at this nation why do some of the able leaders nominate their best friends leaving out persons who deserve the seats I we not capable in terms of leadership, that’s a question we need answers from our elected leaders’, Bii said.
