The Kilimani Project Foundation is pleased to sign an MoU with the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) designed to identify the Kilimani area as the centre of innovation in the built environment so as to provide a template for planned development for the rest of Kenya.
AAK have been long-time friends of the foundation and have collaborated numerous times, especially on advocacy issues around planned development. This MoU formalises our collaboration on joint advocacy and communication initiatives pertaining to the built environment, with a particular focus on hosting joint Barazas & Stakeholder dialogues to discuss built environment industry-related matters and conducting joint media campaigns for effective outreach.
“Virtually all emergent issues facing Kilimani are planning issues. As the Foundation, we are committed to ensuring that Kilimani gets a Local Physical Development Plan to ensure sustainable growth” said Daniel Nyakora, the Foundation Chairperson. “I’m excited about this partnership because it brings in professional voices that would help further our advocacy efforts towards an inclusive and sustainable Kilimani. The intention is to also inspire other urban communities to take a more active role towards the development of their neighbourhoods.”
During the signing, AAK President, Arch. Florence Nyole said “This MoU cements the intention of AAK to collaborate and create synergy to pioneer a well-planned neighbourhood in recognition of the inevitable densification rapidly taking place. We trust that this joint advocacy will result in a sustainable urban area and present an example to be emulated by the rest of Nairobi and other rapidly urbanising areas in Kenya.”
This MoU takes effect immediately and would be renewable in perpetuity as we continue to advocate for more sustainable, people-centred urban environments.
