Kisii County Unveils Azimio Coalition Board, As they call for peaceful campaigns

Kisii County has unveiled AZIMIO board Kisii branch chapter to coordinate and populalise activities of the team, ahead of the next week visit of president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
The team consists of 16 political parties which are under the Azimio Coalition_One Kenya Alliance
Speaking with the press in Kisii county, Kisii aspiring governor Simba Arati under ODM party, said that the major purpose of the team is to ensure that Raila Odinga has secured more votes from Nyanza region.
The board members includes: executive member Kerosi Ondieki (ODM), secretary Henry Onderi ( UPA), treasurer Job Okemwa (DAP) , vice chairperson Joel Omagwa (Jubilee) ,Assistant secretary Erick Omanwa(wiper) , Co-ordinator Moses Nyakeramba and assistant coordinator Patrick Lumumba
Arati who is the chair, said that this time round Odinga is going to garner more votes from Gusii region unlike in the past.
“The team we have unveiled is a dedicated one to move up to grassroot level to secure votes,”Arati said.
He cited that the impact will be felt through team work, to put aside differences and have one agenda of ensuring that Raila becomes the fifth president of the republic of Kenya.
Kisii aspiring senator Richard Onyonka also a coordinator at Azimio Coalition at National level, the team appointed are the one who have mandate of the activities in the county.
According to Onyonka during this electioneering period, splinter groups are likely to arise and urged the public to be aware of that.
“We do not have a splinter group, this is the right team you have seen,” he said.
It is alleged that ODM party in Kisii County it is divided into two,one team led by incumbent governor James Ongwae and other one led by Arati.
However Kisii woman representative Dorice Aburi under Wiper party alleges that the incumbent governor James Ongwae has never come out to rally nor endorse the incoming governor Simba Arati who is under ODM party.
“It is in public domain that Ongwae is not supporting Arati, how can he purport to support Odinga and yet he is not supporting ODM gubernatorial aspirant,” she said.
Aburi called for political tolerance during the campaign period and urged the security officers to beef up more security to women.
The leaders urged those seeking political seats to restrain themselves from making utterances that could jeopardize peaceful co-existence among various communities.
