Othaya MP Gichuki Mugambi issuing NHIF card to one of the beneficiaries

Kenyatta National Hospital, Othaya Annex has extended an enhanced Corporate Social Responsibility for the residents of Othaya constituency by among other things waiving medical bills of over KSH 25m.
The institution has lifted the requirement of referral only and allowed the residents to get treatment on a walk-in basis.
According to the director of the medical facility Peter Muiruri the hospital will partner with Othaya NG- CDF and area MP Gichuki Mugambi to sponsor regular free medical camps to alleviate the suffering of the residents most of are suffering from non-communicable ailments.
During one such camp at the Approved school ground on Tuesday where hundreds received free treatment, Mugambi issued NHIF cards to over 500 needy constituents which will see them receive free medical attention.
While issuing the cards in the first phase of many to come, he urged the institution to give area business people priority in supply of food stuffs and other requirements.
The national government has so far pumped in over two billion shillings to bring it to the level of the referral hospitals; Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret.

Though he did not name the politicians who had written letters calling for its relocation, he noted that such people were ones who use social media outlets to discredit its management for allegedly detaining patients over nonpayment of bills.
He echoed the director’s sentiments over the issue saying where he called on those with Bill issues to visit the necessary office in the facility instead of resulting to yapping in the media.
As he issued the NHIF cards, the MP further outlined milestones he had taken the constituency in terms of infrastructure, upgrading of Othaya town to municipality status and establishment of health training school by thw Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
Those who had writers were the same people who were going round saying that they contributed cash through harambee for the facility set up though the fact is that it was fully funded by the national Government.
The event also saw People Living With Disabilities registered officials do that they can benefit from government cash transfer for the vulnerable.
