There are some services like agriculture, education and health that in most economies are provided by the government usually on free basis or at a small fee, the target of the government in doing this is to ensure that there services reach all the citizens and are affordable. Someone may see these projects as uneconomical but to the provider she knows that there is no profit motive. Access to these products is the key factor so they do not get bothered at what rate the citizens are taking their services provided they know that they are accessible for example in a government hospital where all the required facilities are available even if few or no patient attend to the facility the government cannot be persuaded to lay off the hospital attendants as the services they are offering are not aimed to overstretch the facilities rather to attend anyone who may visit the facility.
There are traders who have fixed profit margin they want to make from a certain product at a specified time once they reach their target you can find them selling the remaining products at a throw away price not that the product is inferior but because they have reached their targeted profit and would wish to clear anything remaining so that they can create a room to supply a new product to the market.
In whatever you are doing knowing your target is key, directing your energies towards your target is an important thing as it will help you attain whatever you aimed at.
