Laikipia County government has continued to massively invest in making sure its constituents are health for maximum utilisation of their different professions and talents which are key ingredients for development.
So far, the county leadership led by Governor Joshua Irungu and his deputy Reuben Kamuri have seen upgrading and acquisition of modern tools, equipment and drugs for various health facilities in the county.
The two leaders have vowed yo ensure that local residents, investors and visitors get the best medical services without having to travel outside the county’s borders.
This has seen the hospitals equipped with what is required as a first measure of ensuring the society is health and subsequent able to deliver various mandate.
Over the weekend, the long awaited Orthopedic Camp was officially opened by the governor.
Though it opened its doors a few weeks ago, nearly five hundred patients sought treatment with dozens already booked for surgeries.

All these surgeries are provided without any out of pocket costs.
“We are confident that many people who were classified as having disabilities will regain full function – it’s true that many of the disabilities that we see are reversible,” the governor said, adding, “This event offers an opportunity for mutual learning by all the teams involved. In the words of one member of Future Health Africa, it sets the standards for care, and puts Laikipia on the global scene in specialised healthcare provision”.
He further added that the County Government will renew its MoU with Future Health Africa to ensure that these partnerships and collaborations continue to thrive.
“We would like to further thank Future Health Africa team from the UK for their incredible support in donating implants for the needy patients”.
After opening the camp, the governor and his team officiated the ground breaking ceremony for four projects.
These are a modern incinerator house, HIV and TB clinics, physiotherapy center and blood satellite centre.
In the next two weeks, the governor is expected to oversee commissioning of the expansion of the outpatient including unification with the emergency department; and the building to house CT Scan and MRI.
Also in the pipeline is the overhaul of the ambulance fleet and the establishment of the Laikipia ambulance system.
