Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital female ward that is being rehabilitated

Laikipia County government has embarked on an ambitious project of refurbishing health facilities in the area.
The programme will see the facilities facelifted and equipped with the relevant equipment, materials and resources.
First to receive this will be the biggest health facility in the county, Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital which is in Nanyuki town.
The work at the facility has already began at the Female Ward where the administration successfully relocated all the patients from the ward to pave way for the much needed restoration works.
The government which is headed by Governor Joshua Irungu is pursuing general infrastructural upgrade to cope with the rising patient flow and to make the work and patient environment more appealing.
On Tuesday afternoon, the patients were temporarily moved to the upper floor of the new maternity complex and rehabilitation of the ward began immediately. These works will be sequentially implemented in other wards to give the hospital a fresh new look of restoration.
The project, which is expected to only take a few weeks, will involve structural, mechanical, electrical works and a little touch of finishing.
It will improve patient rooms, staff working areas, enable better visibility of all patients from the nursing desk to improve and enable a general good ward organization and is expected to be delivered with minimum interruptions to our inpatient services.
This development is just one part of the massive overhaul touching on all aspects of healthcare provision in Laikipia County in all health facilities; and is informed by recommendations by a taskforce that the Governor set up in August to restore health services in Laikipia.
