The Linda Mwananchi Party (formerly The Equitable Party) officially unveiled its national headquarters in Nairobi’s Lavington suburb, launching a bold organizational structure designed to challenge the ruling government across all key political regions ahead of the August 2027 General Election.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was proposed as party leader. He is supported by a deputy leadership team featuring former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, and former Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo. Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi takes the helm as party chairperson, with Caroli Omondi serving as Secretary General and Richard Onyonka as Treasurer. Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is slated to direct the presidential campaign.
The unveiling crystallized a formidable opposition realignment. Heavyweights including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa attended the event to signal a united opposition front. Combining Gachagua’s Mt. Kenya constituency, Kalonzo’s Ukambani stronghold, Sifuna and Wamalwa’s Western and urban bases, and dedicated coastal representation, the coalition establishes a geographic pincer aimed at sweeping the 2027 polls.
