LSK Urge CS Interior Prof Kindiki to Send Special Team to Speed up Probe Murder of Nyamira Teacher

South West Kenya Law society of Kenya (LSK) officials wants Interior Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Kithure Kindiki to send a special team of investigators to Nyamira County to unravel the killing of a primary school Head teacher, Ezekiel Nkeere Getangwa.

Getangwa was found murdered in a nurse’s house on New Year’s Day, with all limbs chopped off according to police.

It was alleged that the teacher was killed over love triangle.

According to police officers, Getangwa, who was 47 and married, may have been in a romantic relationship with the nurse, Agneta Agwata, who has gone into hiding and is considered the prime suspect in the case.

In Kisii County a man hacked his two daughters to death and dumped them into a farm and has been detained for 14 days awaiting for completion of the investigation.

Also in Kisii County, baby Sagini ‘eyes were gouged and the suspects are in Kisii Prison and awaiting for their fate on 23/1/2023.

Society’s chairman, Gideon Nyambati accused officers probing the killing of delaying, adding it was giving suspects time to run away, derail the case and deny the family justice.

He said some police officers had overstayed in some stations, colluded with criminals and urged the government to transfer them and post committed officers to help probe and prosecute cases quickly.

Speaking to the Press in Kisii, the official deplored the increasing cases of murder cases in the county, saying they have overwhelmed judicial officers.

Nyambati said that at Kisii law court, there are 92 murder cases pending in court and only one Judge  and they are is expecting the Judiciary to post another Judge

Nyambati, a Vice chairman of Court users committee faulted senior security officers for failing to attend the committee’s meetings, saying it was hampering implementation of resolutions to fight crime in the society’s jurisdiction- Kisii, Nyamira, Homabay Migori counties and Kilgoris in Narok County.

“It is unfortunate that senior officers send juniors to the meetings who do explain them the resolutions of the meetings” Nyambati stated.

Mirieri said the Society has set up a committee to deal with mental wellness of their members and those of the public to curb cases of murder, suicides and defilements among others.

“The Committee will sensitize members of the public to support people with mental problems. The LSK will provide support and urge members of the public to maintain peace.

Maroko said LSK members are engaging chiefs and community members to pro-act to avert crimes and urged the Judiciary to give murder cases a priority.

“The accused persons have a right to be heard. We shall have perpetrators answer for their crimes and justice be served” Maroko said.

The official urged members of the public to be vigilant and report criminals within their localities to the police for arrest and prosecution.

Bunde urged church leaders to guide and counsel members of the public to curb escalating cases of murder in the area, saying some of the perpetrators have mental challenges and should be helped.
