Counterfeit Liquor

A middle aged man was sentenced to serve three months in prison by a Kenol court for possessing illicit brew after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court heard that Julius Kamau was accosted by police officers and the OCS Makuyu in Murang’a South Sub County on Sunday, as he sold the unlicensed alcoholic beverage at his business premises at 8am.

The officers apprehended him, while acting on a tip off from members of the public about his underhand dealings.

Upon inspection, the accused was asked to provide his business permit but he didn’t have one. That’s when he got arrested and taken to the police station, together with the brands of alcohol he was selling to be used as exhibits.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges before Principal Magistrate O.M Wanyaga and was convicted on his own plea of guilt.

Having been previously charged with the same felony in March this year, the Principal Magistrate sentenced him to serve three months in custody.
