MARRIAGE DIVORCE RATE IN THE COUNTRY IS WORRYING

By: Olivia Mellen Bochaberi

In Kenya today many couples are breaking up, this has affected their lives in many ways like children are being neglected, and they do not find the parental love from both parents. Young age marriage has led to many families divorcing since the couples rush into marriage without even having in mind what marriage entails.

This has been in rise since on getting a small job young couples rush to marriage without even setting up their goals in life, and later they encounter small problems, and they fail to solve them hence the divorce. Less income has also led to divorce, since most people marry because of wealth.

Many people in this 21st century marry because of material wealth and once that wealth fades off the couples end up divorcing. This has been the major concern in marriages of today’s lives. Another concern why divorce has been on the rise is the difficulty of parents’ divorce.

This has affected many marriages because the married couples fail to find a mentor for their marriage due to the fact that most take advice from their parents and in case of a small misunderstanding among the couples they start to insult each other hence the break-up and lack of advice from the parents.

Lack of religious affiliation has also contributed to many divorces, since many couples today do not look at the religion of his or her partner before marrying. This has contributed majorly  to divorce since when it comes to matters of religion each couple will want to go to his or her own church in which she was raised up and this will lead to conflict  even children may be included in, hence the divorce.

Premarital child bearing has also been the major cause for divorce. A couple may marry and finish like three to four years without a child and each partner will be suspicious of the other and if the couple does not look for a good solution they will end up divorcing.

The best way the couple should take is to visit a hospital for Checkup of their problem and once told the result they should too visit a guidance and counselling person for more information on how to handle their problem.

Mistrust among young couples has also led to many break-ups. Most partners are not faithful in  their marriages, you get one partner is faithful while the other is seriously cheating on him or her and when the other one being cheated comes to realize he or she will feel betrayed and played and will ask for the divorce.

Due to the increase in the cases of divorce, the government should look for a solution since many partners who divorce end up being killed by the other partner due to the excuses which do not make sense like one was not ready to give the other a divorce.
