Worth Noting:
- After hanging his media boots, Ndagara’s position has been taken over by formerly Mwendantu FM reporter from Tharaka region, Muriungi Makunyi who is already up and running.
- As a result of succession of the duo, Makunyi’s position at Chuka based Mwendantu FM has now been filled by formerly Radio Furaha reporter for Tharaka Nithi County popularly known as Khan Mutethia alias MC Khan.
- However Khan’s position is yet to be filled, it is obvious that finally the Meru based Radio Furaha will require to replace him for news from the county.
August polls campaign causing major reshuffle of news reporters in Tharaka Nithi
Major reshuffle and shifting of news reporters from various media houses is being witnessed in Tharaka Nithi County.
This is as result of reporters who have resigned to venture into politics ahead of August general elections while others have found greener pastures thus leaving their former positions vacant.
The first to resign was the veteran scribe Lisa Kathuure Mukuru, the Chuka Igambang’ombe reporter for Royal Media services who has since joined Chuka University in related office.
Following her resignation, Ms.Lisa has had her position taken by former Mwendani FM reporter Ms.Monicah Nyagah after a successful interview, placing her as the new RMS reporter for Chuka Igambang’ombe Sub County.
However it is not yet clear on who will succeed Monicah on the Embu based Mwendani FM/TV, it is certain that her position will eventually be filled.
Another big name that has exited media is that of Tharaka veteran journalist Muthengi Ndagara who has been the reporter for Getu FM, a Meru vernacular station as Tharaka region reporter and who has since resigned to seek in Tharaka ward MCA post in Kitui County.
After hanging his media boots, Ndagara’s position has been taken over by formerly Mwendantu FM reporter from Tharaka region, Muriungi Makunyi who is already up and running.
As a result of succession of the duo, Makunyi’s position at Chuka based Mwendantu FM has now been filled by formerly Radio Furaha reporter for Tharaka Nithi County popularly known as Khan Mutethia alias MC Khan.
However Khan’s position is yet to be filled, it is obvious that finally the Meru based Radio Furaha will require to replace him for news from the county.
Speaking to this source after assuming their new assignments, the new reporters have vowed to work towards fitting in shoes of their predecessors to give their listeners the best from the field.
“I am pleasured to have joined Getu FM as Tharaka based Reporter and I am assuring my listeners that I will endeavour to give them factual and timely news from Tharaka region to ensure they get the best,’’ Muriungi Makunyi said.
Tharaka Nithi press association chair Mr. Alex Njeru in his statement congratulated the scribes for scaling up to higher levels in their line of profession.
Njeru noted that however there has been tremendous growth of media industry in the county, several journalists are facing challenges being occasioned by poor payments and therefore called upon media owners to pay well for the work being done for them.
And being a campaign period, Alex emphasized on the need to have a peaceful campaign to avert cases of journalists being injured as it has been witnessed before.
