Mimah is a finalist at Tharaka University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Education, majoring in English and Literature and who she has steadily carved her path in the literary world with grace, resilience, and love.

Her writing journey began at the tender age of 18 during her first year at the university. With no clear roadmap to steer her ‘vehicle’ and no platform to showcase her work, she began to write quietly, allowing her thoughts to wander freely onto different papers. Despite the initial lack of exposure, she nurtured her passion on the other side of light. One of her greatest sources of motivation and inspiration has been Poet Verah. A mentor and a cheerleader who has constantly encouraged her to keep doing what she loves best—even if her only audience was herself.  Through Verah’s support, Mimah came to understand that writing is more than expression—it is a bridge to connect with others and a mirror for self-reflection.

For Mimah, writing is a sacred space where her unspoken thoughts find voice and her readers find light to the truth. She writes to inspire introspection, spark emotion, and connect with dark souls that may be seeking resonance. Her words have become a refuge, not only for herself but for those who feel her work.

Over time, Mimah has grown both personally and artistically. She recognizes that her words—once kept in solitude—now inspire and impact readers from diverse backgrounds. Writing has helped her forge meaningful connections with fellow writers and readers across the country and this has enriched her journey with diverse experiences and cultural heritage.

In 2022, she made her first grand public literary debut in the anthology Echoes of Fantasy, published under the name Mimah Shiru. Although stepping into the public eye was daunting, this marked as the beginning of her creative awakening. Her journey has since included notable milestones, such as contributing to the collaborative novel Just A Kiss in 2024 and publishing her short story Macharia with the support of Yours2Read.com.

While the path hasn’t been without challenges and darkness—such as self-doubt, time constraints, and limited publishing opportunities—Mimah has never lost sight of her vision. Balancing academic life and artistic pursuits has been demanding, yet she continues to cultivate her passion with intentional effort. She now dedicates time each week to nurture her writing transforming it into both an emotional outlet and an intellectual pursuit.

Her academic studies in literature have significantly sharpened her poetic craft. It has provided her with the tools to articulate her feelings more powerfully and creatively. The literary theories and techniques she engages with in class enrich her work and allow her to experiment with style, structure, and form.

As she moves forward towards the stardom to being a badass author, Mimah remains committed to her growth as both a poet and a storyteller. She actively explores publishing opportunities—be it traditional, self-publishing, or digital platforms—and embraces the evolving landscape of literature in the digital age.

Whatever she writes is a reflection of her soul. A testament to resilience, creativity, and the transformative power of words. Mimah aspires to become a voice for the unheard, to write pieces and verses that provoke thoughts, stir emotions, and offer console to the broken hearts. Her ultimate mission is to create art that leaves an indelible mark on readers’ hearts and contributes meaningfully to the literary world.
