This is a letter to mom
I write it with tears in my eyes
Praying that you will be able to understand the language of poetry
Or even be able to speak French
When I say
Tu me manques vraiment maman
I remember days
Days you cried to feed us
Days when motherhood is all you saw
Days of our suffering
Momma
We made it
Yes we did
But still in the cocoon of suffering
Momma
I recall we slept without anything
But today you eat full to capacity
Momma
Tell me momma
The cocoon is eating your sons up
The cocoon has blindfolded your daughter
Momma
Nous sommes en train de mourir
We wish we were there we you
Just to be soothed to sleep
Just to feel the care of your motherhood
Momma
What else was left you didn’t tell us
About the world full of hyenas
About the world full of depressing facts
About the world
That has betrayed us today
Dis-nous maman
We are struggling
Struggling to fit into the world
We are struggling
Struggling to raise our own generation
We are struggling
Struggling to work things out
Car le monde ne s’additionne pas
We wish we knew
This is how the world will be
Forever we would remain young
Young to benefit from your ziwa
The sweet ziwa of milk
For there we didn’t have to work momma
We want it momma
Want it like never before
We need it momma
A sweet sweet advice to your offspring
For together we broke apart
Laisser mourir la seule solution
Momma Africa
