- Who are you?
Am Daisy and am a mother of three boys ( one in heaven) and a girl, so passionate about children and their welfare especially issues revolving around Pre-teens and teen’s sexual health awareness.
- What does Award nomination mean to you?
As an author it means the world, as a writer who works in solitude it means exposure, and my intention is to put my writing out there to reach as many people as possible.
- What do you think of Mulher Forte African Literature?
Am grateful for their platform for exposure of new talent and putting Africa out there and setting up networking ground for writers across Africa.
- How are the book sales in Botswana?
It is slow but growing.
- What can be done to improve the sales?
Landscape allows me to contribute to reflecting our realities, hopes, complexities and how we can mitigate those. Though, these are challenges in global visibility, I believe African giants like Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe et al, showed we can enter the global market and take centre stage.
- What can be done to improve sales?
It’s a collective effort between authors, publishers, book stores, and readers. We need stronger marketing Strategies, accessible platforms including digital ones! as well as encouraging a culture of reading. I believe we should support and celebrate together, ten book sales will naturally grow.
- Are Batswana a reading people?
Yes, they are, with a rich traditon of storytelling (mainane). Yet with the growth of technology, especially among the youth, reading seems to be declining hence the need to cultivate a strong reading culture.
Access to books and libraries can be a challenge in some areas, therefore there is constant need to grow Interest in literature, and invest in literacy programes and support home grown authours and publishers.
- How is digital literacy in your country?
It is quite improving amongst all, with lessons learnt from Covid-19 a number of Schools and organisations resorted to online deliveries of their mandate, and they stuck to that since. On another note, the government, through Its SMARTBOTS initiative, intends to connect the entire country to facilitate digital naysayers.
- Do you plan to make E books?
Yes, it overcomes distribution boundaries, so that my books can reach bigger scope.
- What are the categories that you are nominated on?
Children’s book
I love children so much.
- Who is your role model locally?
Dr Paula O.M.Otukile for her unwavering dedication to storytelling with trying to put African literature and cultural heritage preserved.
- Where do you see yourself in Ten years?
As an established author locally and internationally and having written across other genres also I do love to mentor writers at primary school level and I believe they have stories to tell. I am yet to do that.
- The concept of unity what can unity do to authors?
Writing can transform literary sphere, collaboration brings growth and mutual encouragement not competition and gives one voice.
- Do you have background training in writing?
No but I write with passion about societal issues and what I can see happening daily in our society.
- What do you understand by copyright?
Legal rights that protects original works and the owner, such books, poems, songs.
- Have you protected your works?
Not yet but am working on it.
- Your advice to the young ones?
You can do it, write boldly often and do not think more about perfection, start with what you have. Choose best strong topics which many can resonate with, and read more.

Strive Beyond us, keep writing, keep dreaming, let your voice echo in places you are not yet to imagine. The universe needs your word.
