Persons living with disabilities in Kenya will now be registered under a new system to enhance accuracy and integrity.
This is because the old system was prone and susceptible to infiltration, whereby non deserving people were taking advantage of the legitimately challenged persons.
Gracing the launch of the new system was Labor Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore who observed that they are fastracking the Finalization of subsidiary laws on disability to complement the Act e.g. the National Disability Policy and review of relevant regulations.
On the new registration system, the Cabinet Secretary was also briefed on the progress made including the decentralization of the Director of Medical Services signature to counties, and efforts made to curb fraud and generate accurate socioeconomic data.
Hon. Bore pledged to walk with the Council to champion issues touching on the welfare of persons with disabilities in Kenya.
