Yesterday, Saruni, a student at University of Nairobi in the Department of Political Science & Public Administration said he had a very clear vision for the lobby and was optimistic that his team will be supported by all stakeholders so as to realize their dream.
The new boss who is the immediate former president of MKU School of Law said he knew the task was hard but vowed not to let his comrades down.
“The University’s Act provides for a new format of conducting University elections. The Act steers away from the former method of universal suffrage to a more advanced delegates system. 0n 18th of August, over 34 University Presidents met at a Nairobi Hotel with 42 others joining online to discuss the nature of student representation at the national level,” he said of the meeting that preceded his unanimous election.
Some of the issues that he says he will give first priority include Constitutional review where the team will review the constitution of Kuso to ensure that there will be no repeat of what has been happening.
He says that the students have experienced the worst time in the history of student leadership where one person takes all the roles of KUSO and exploits the organization for personal benefit.
“KUSO will revert back to comrades and comrades will use it as a platform for development and to disseminate opportunities. The organization will be student led with time limits for the leadership positions,” he said.
Other issues are formation of regional KUSO caucuses, Networking comrades, Linking students and student leaders to mentors and sourcing for opportunities for comrades
