Kakamega Governor, Fernandes Barasa
Kakamega Governor, Fernandes Barasa, has called on local farmers to embrace sugarcane farming as part of efforts to support the revival of Mumias Sugar Company. Barasa highlighted the vital role of farmers in ensuring a steady supply of raw materials for the miller’s sustainability. He noted that the success of Mumias Sugar Company largely depends on farmers’ duty to sugarcane farming adding that a consistent supply of raw materials will allow the miller to operate optimally and contribute significantly to the economic growth of this region.
Senate Majority Leader and Kericho County Senator, Aaron Cheruiyot, has urged Kenyans to respect their leaders and give them the space to work effectively for the community. He emphasised the importance of constructive criticism, encouraging locals to engage with their leaders positively and offer guidance on how they wish to be led. The Senator noted that leadership is about service and that should be their focus, adding that it was important for the citizens to give leaders a chance to work while providing constructive feedback. He told Kenyans to criticise in a positive way and guide their leaders on how we can serve them better.
Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, has called on the Kuria community to work closely with the County Administration chaired by Migori County Commisioner, to maintain peace, law and order for prosperity. Omollo called upon the Kuria community to unite like their local leaders to maintain peace in the region as he emphasised that the government will continue to ensure peace is achieved in the borders of Kisii and Narok Counties to spur economic development in the region. He noted that his ministry was working closely with leaders of the affected region and communities from both counties to ensure they achieve a lasting peace for the economic growth of the two regions. He explained that the security issue is not only a government problem, urging the community to maintain community policing and assist the local security teams in maintaining law and order.

The governor urged locals, including small-scale business owners, to unite and form partnerships with financial institutions in order to boost their investment and unlock their full potential for economic growth. The two-day forum dubbed ‘Kitui County investor’s sensitization forum’ attracted over 3500 participants across the County. The forum was a precursor for the Kitui International Investors Conference slated to take place in March next year.
Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner David Gitonga has urged students to embrace displine and hard work, emphasizing that success in sports and life in general depends on commitment. Presiding over the opening of the Eastern Region Secondary School Ball Games tournament being hosted by Chuka Boys’ High School on Friday, the commissioner cautioned the high school students against drug use, warning that substance abuse would hinder their potential to excel. Emphasising the importance of sports, he urged the students to remain focused, be discipline and work hard as they pursue their dream careers. Present during the event was the Tharaka Nithi County Director of Education (CDE), Ms. Bridget Wambua, who underscored the role of sports in shaping well-rounded students.
Wambua encouraged schools to balance academics and extracurricular activities, noting that sports provide valuable life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership.
