Thogoto Community Forest Associations(CFA) grows 2,000 trees at Thogoto Forest to mark the Dutch Royal Couple state visit to Kenya. Cabinet Secretary for Environment Aden Duale yesterday hosted The Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at Thogoto Forest in Kiambu County for a tree growing exercise.
The initiative underscores the Netherlands efforts on nature conservation and its cooperation with Kenya on climate agenda anchored in the 15bn Tree Growing Programme. The Dutch Royal Couple is in the country for a 3-day visit to strengthen the ties further between Kenya and Netherlands focused on sustainable agriculture and water; underscored as two priority areas for the two governments. Earlier, the Majesties, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in tourism, trade and investment and agriculture sectors aimed to strengthen investment opportunities ,business partnerships and bilateral relations between the two countries. Duale was accompanied by his Agriculture Cabinet colleague Mutahi Kagwe, Forestry Principal Secretary Gitonga Mugambi and Chief Conservator of Forests Mr Alex Lemarkoko at an event also attended by Netherlands Ambassador to Kenya Henk Jan Bakker, Ministers; Caspar Veldkamp (Foreign Affairs), Reinette Klever (Foreign Trade and Development) and Ruben Brekelmans (Defence).
The dairy industry is vital to Kenya’s economy, providing livelihoods for over 1.8 million smallholder farmers and contributing significantly to food security and GDP. Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke on Monday hosted the Task Force mandated to review the Dairy Industry Bill. The team briefed him on the progress of this crucial legislation, which aims to enhance milk quality, uphold food safety standards, and strengthen Kenya’s competitiveness in local and global markets. The PS reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming the dairy sector by ensuring better incomes for farmers, improved food safety, and a stronger contribution to the national GDP. engaged listeners on Inooro FM’s KEERA Show, where she outlined the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare and improve access to quality services for all Kenyans. Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai appeared before the Senate Committee on Delegated Legislation, led by Chair Mwenda Gataya, for a pre-publication scrutiny of The Digital Health – Health Information Management Procedures Regulations 2025 and The Data Exchange Component Regulations 2025. He commended the committee for their valuable feedback and commitment to strengthening digital health governance.
Certain regions of the country, including th capital have experienced violent extremist activities, highlighting the on going threat of religiously motivated violence in our nation. Principal Secretary for Interior Dr. Raymond Omollo chaired the second Steering Committee meeting of the Peacebuilding and Preventing Violent Extremism Programme to approve the annual work plan targeting Marsabit, Samburu, Isiolo, Laikipia, Busia, Kisumu, Taita Taveta and Kilifi. The Programme is co-created by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP and the Korea International Cooperation Agency( KOICA), bringing together the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the Peacebuilding and Conflict Management Directorate and the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya .
