Kenya Tea Development Agency – Management Services (KTDA-MS) chairman Solomon Muriithi Maina alias Solo (in blue) yesterday joined the residents of Gituri Kiamuiru in the Kiangengi area of Magutu ward, Mathira constituency in laying pipes he donated to them for their water project that is set to transform the lives of over 450 families. He noted that the project will provide much-needed irrigation and clean drinking water to the dedicated horticulture farmers who have been travelling more than four kilometres to fetch water, often compromising their time and energy needed for farming and family. Thanking Solo for his generosity, the farmers notes that the ability to access water easily will not only boost their agricultural productivity but also enhance their quality of life. This is one of the many community based and individual projects that the KTDA-MS chairman has for years been involved in as a way of assisting his home constituency residents.
A contractor awarded tender to construct the Wiyumiririe ESP market in Laikipia East constituency in Laikipia County was yesterday handed over the site by Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning Alice Wahome. The CS was accompanied by among others, area Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri and hundreds of local residents. The market that is in Ngobit ward is one of ten markets earmarked for construction in the County. With the site handover, the

The Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir, yesterday appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly led by Butere MP Tindi Mwale to respond to queries related to the audited financial statements of the State Department for Water and Sanitation for the fiscal year ending 30th June 2023. The session provided an opportunity to clarify expenditure, account for the implementation of key projects, and reaffirm the State Department’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent use of public resources. The PS underscored the Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, particularly in accelerating access to clean water and improved sanitation across the country. The PS was accompanied by among others, water agencies Chief Executive Officers for Lake Victoria South, Lake Victoria North, Central Rift Valley and Athi Water.
On the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly, themed “One World for Health,” Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale held a productive bilateral meeting with Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). Underscoring Kenya’s commitment to strengthening global health cooperation and advancing national health priorities, their discussion centred on the importance of sustainable financing for WHO, including proposed increases in assessed contributions, recognizing that a well-resourced WHO is vital for achieving the ambitious goals set out in the Fourteenth General Programme of Work (GPW14) for 2025–2028.

Principal Secretary for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs Joseph M. Motari yesterday took part in a National Consultative Workshop on the “Early Warnings for All” (EW4ALL) initiative in Nairobi. EW4ALL is a groundbreaking global initiative launched in 2022 by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, aiming to ensure that every person on earth is protected from hazardous weather, water, and climate events through life-saving Early Warning Systems by 2027. The PS noted that timely early warnings are essential to safeguarding vulnerable populations; particularly persons with disabilities, older persons, and low-income households, who are often most at risk during climate-related disasters. The meeting observed that strengthening these systems is therefore a critical component of our broader social protection agenda.
