President William Ruto yesterday launched Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Mandera Campus which the Health Ministry described as a clear testament to the commitment to strengthening Human Resources for Health (HRH) and enhancing access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved areas. The campus offers key programs, including Diplomas in Community Health Nursing, Community Health, and Clinical Medicine & Surgery, alongside Certificates in Community Health Nursing, Healthcare Assistance, and Community Health Development.The milestone aligns with Kenyaโs Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals, ensuring the training and deployment of more healthcare professionals to address the needs of communities, especially in marginalized regions.
The Government has raised alarm over a potential data breach into the systems of the Registrar of Companies in Kenya. Following notification by the Kenya Registration Services Bureau (BRS), the Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy has swiftly assembled a multi-agency team to investigate the matter and promptly prevent and safeguard any further data exfiltration. Information and Digital Economy, Cabinet Secretary, William Kabogo, in a press release, re-assured citizens that the multi-agency security team, in collaboration with international cyber-security agencies responsible for overseeing cyberspace governance, are dealing with the matter around the clock to mitigate the issue efficiently and effectively.
Five suspects implicated in a gold scam that left two businessmen, a Romanian and Swiss national, crying for justice after losing USD 120,000 to the fraudsters are in our custody. The five include the mastermind and alleged CEO of AFREX Bridge Connections Ltd Lamarca J. Benjamin alias Morlon Jean Emmanuel, Samson Kibet Sirkoi, Lucy Gitonga, Rose Kambua and Justine Adhiambo, 25, who were all nabbed at different hideouts within the country. In the complaint filed at Wilson Airport Police Station on Wednesday last week, the complainants alleged to have been approached by a contact person who informed them that the prime suspect (Lamarca) was in the business of selling 550kg of gold. The gold was purportedly stored at a godown in JKIA awaiting clearance, and was to be transported on January 20, 2025 once the payment of USD 120,000 was made. Diving into the crafty machinations of the ring of scammers believed to be wallowing in the miasma of deceit for years, the complainants made the full payment, only to be taken in circles thereafter.
President William Ruto was yesterday hosted by Ministry of Water Sanitation and Irrigation officials led by Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eng. Eric Mugaa, Principal Secretary in the State Department Water and Sanitation Dr Julius Korir, and Water Secretary Eng. SAO Alima, for an inspection visit to Mandera Water Supply and Mandera Sewerage Projects in the County. The sewerage project is 85 per cent complete while the water supply is 72 per cent. Both projects are set to be completed by the end of the year. Nyeri town based, Tana Water Works Development Agency, which is supervising the project, was represented by senior officials led by chairman Teobald Mukundi Wambugu alias Temuwa.
