Kericho County Governor Dr. Eric Mutai confirmed 1,132 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers into permanent and pensionable terms across 30 wards. The scheme of service, which includes certificates, diplomas, and degrees, has been implemented in full compliance with Salaries and Remuneration Commission regulations. The county government has also created 65 additional teaching positions on contract terms to ensure competent and professional teachers for Pre-Primary pupils.
The Rotary Club Kitengela has donated sanitary towels to Standard eight and Grade six girls at G.K Prison Primary School in Kitengela, aiming to help them concentrate on revision for national examinations. The club plans to extend the same gesture to girls in Noonkopir and Dr. Likimani Primary Schools.

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has praised stakeholders for their good working relations, leading to a transformation in port operations and improved service delivery. KPA Managing Director, Capt. William Ruto, cited landmark resolutions passed during port community meetings over the past 20 years to improve operations and meet customer demands for efficiency. Ruto emphasised the importance of modernising port infrastructure and automating processes to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround times. KPA is committed to embracing full automation and digitalization and is working with other partner government agencies and the entire Mombasa Port and Northern Corridor Community to ensure efficient service delivery at the Port of Mombasa and other port facilities. Maersk Line MD, Carl Lorenz, commended KPA for its continued improvement of port operations and safety. CMA CGM, Managing Director East Africa Cluster, expressed confidence in KPA’s leadership and the need for partnership to improve export volumes.
Kegoosho women in Kiekonyokie, Kajiado West, have grown cow peas and yellow beans using solar-powered drip irrigation, with support from the Arid Lands Information Network (ALIN). The initiative aims to help residents in the semi-arid area, which has been severely affected by recent drought, continue to feed themselves and avoid relying on the government for relief food.
In Kamahuha Ward of Murang’a County, nine sons and daughters have been buried with all their ambitions in the last ten months, with seven males and two females aged between 12 and 29 years old. KNA visited the bereaved families to understand what caused their loved ones to commit suicide and how they are coping with life after their kin’s sudden demise. Joseph Murigi Njogu, the last-born son, was laid to rest on August 23, 2023, after committing suicide a week earlier. His mother, Margaret Wanjiku, narrates the events leading to his death, stating that his family only realised something was amiss in July when reports of him being arrested and detained at the Saba Saba Police Station The family alleges that no charges were pressed against him but were asked to part with Sh30,000, which they raised half and the balance to be paid days later. The 29-year-old Mount Kenya University Bachelor of Business Management Banking and Finance graduate was released on Thursday evening and went to his rented house in Kaharati to attend an interview in Nyeri. He committed suicide using a sisal rope.
