Nyeri County government yesterday received cheques worth Sh750,000 from Outspan Hospital and Mt Kenya Academy.
The two private institutions presented their donations to area governor Mutahi Kahiga to help in the ongoing feeding of affected local residents.
The Outspan facility donates Sh500,000 while the Academy gave Sh250,000 towards the Nyeri County Famine Relief Fund.
Dr. Peter Murimi led a team from the hospital in presenting the cheque whileΒ Ms Charity Mwangi presented cheque as well as assorted foodstuffs from Mt. Kenya Academy fraternity.
Addressing the two institutions representatives,Β governor Kahiga revealed that his administration is also purchasing food worth Sh12 million for the same initiative.
“I wish to appreciate your efforts in heeding the call to mitigate the pangs of famine. Service to humanity is service to God,” he said.
