Nyeri gubernatorial aspirant banner destroyed

A banner belonging to Nyeri Gubernatorial seat aspirant Economist Gachara Kamanga has been vandalized in Nyeri Town by unknown people.

The banner, proclaiming Kamanga’s bid was descended on last Friday as few days after it was erected.

Kamanga, also known as Anko G of Vision 2030 had erected it adjacent to Nyeri Health Center, a few metres from Nyeri County Governor’s office.

Those behind the destruction are believed to be from rival camps who have started panicking due to Kamanga’s increasing popularity.

On Saturday morning  when he learnt of the destruction, Kamanga condemned the incident saying that each and every candidate has the right to campaign and sell his/her agenda in every part of the County without intimidations.

Since Kamanga’s entry for the Nyeri Gubernatorial race  he has been giving his opponents sleepless nights due to among other things his grasp of what ills the county and the required solution.

He has vast experience in economic matters  having been among technocrats who drafted the Vision 2030 blueprint.

He has previousyly working for USAID, UNDP and World Bank among other international and national institutions in many countries, and was also a former lecturer at Moi University.

He promises that the poorest household in Nyeri should earn a minimum income of Shs2000 per day.

He says this is not magic but can be easily achieved through a number of economic transformation initiatives like The development of high priced agricultural products such as avocado, tree tomato, macadamia and others through an aggressive adoption strategies to farmers supported with large irrigation programs.

Once elected, Kamanga has promised that the county government will secure local and international markets for raw and for processed products.

Kamanga said if given the mandate, he will establish highly innovative value addition cottage industries at least three in each constituency and will include processing of milk products like ghee, cheese and yoghurt, processing and marketing of potatoes, onions and cabbages, growing, processing, packaging and marketing of organically grown coffee, biodiversity-centered micro hotels at household level that are managed and marketed at county level,  among many others.

Last Friday,  he attended a Jubilee supporters meeting at Karichen area in Kieni constituency where was officially received by the party leaders led by National Assembly Budget Committee chairman and area MP Kanini Kega.
