Nyeri UDA leaders; Wamatinga, Kaguchia and Wanyaga meet over campaigns strategy

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders from Nyeri County are laying elaborate strategy aimed at securing as many votes as possible for the party presidential candidate comes August 9.
The leaders are also planning to ensure its party candidates for various seats will carry the day when the elections are called.
Yesterday, Senatorial aspirant Wahome Wamatinga, Speaker of the County Assembly John Kaguchia and Kenya Kwanza Nyeri chapter chairman Wanyaga Gathaka held the first meeting to lay ground for follow-up meetings, set to be convened after the burial of President Mwai Kibaki.
“Yes we met and had fruitful deliberations on strategies we require to apply in order to win all the seats up for grabs on August 9. Particularly, we emphasized on various ways of having maximum support among voters for our party presidential aspirant Dr William Ruto.
Among the issues at hand is to identify serious mobilizers in every ward,” Wanyaga said.
He added, “We agreed to have a follow-up meeting next week after the burial of the third President of the Republic of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki”.
Last week, a section of UDA aspirants who lost in the just concluded party nominations formed a lobby group whose sole aim is to campaign for Dr William Ruto to be the next Head of State.
The lobby dubbed, Kenya Kwanza Nyeri chapter is being by Gathaka.
Briefing journalists after their first meeting at Senior Chief Wambugu Palace near Nyeri town, the former aspirants vowed to ensure Dr Ruto became the fifth President.
The lobby comprises of all former aspirants who contested either parliamentary or ward seats in the county under UDA ticket and have remained in the party.
Wanyaga said the lobby will among other things, woe Nyeri county voters to support Dr William Ruto during the August 9 General Election.
“We want to hit the ground as soon as is practically possible. We want to concentrate on Presidential campaign as those who won concentrate on securing their respective seats,” he disclosed.
Another member Esther Ngima who contested the Nyeri Town Constituency parliamentary seat noted that they were doing the campaign out of goodwill and their resolve was to ensure Dr Ruto was the next tenant at the House on the Hill.
