Kalonzo, Karua, Moi & Jirongo formalises OKA agreement.
By: N. George
Worth Noting:
- As an alliance governed by values and principles of equality, equity, sustainable development, citizens empowerment and zero tolerance to corruption we are open to honest engagements with other political formations which we share ideologies.
- This shall involve structured and open negotiations which must include resolution of the country’s crippling debt portfolio and discussion of exploration of our natural resources to address the debt and create employment for our largely unemployed youth among other important issues.
- As of today several other political parties have expressed interest in joining the coalition. This is because we believe that the diversity in our nation call for heterogeneity of minds and ideas to effect impactful changes.
Kalonzo, Karua, Moi & Jirongo formalises OKA agreement.
Yesterday 02nd February 2020 One Kenya Alliance principals lead by Wiper Democratic Party leader and former vice president Hon. Kalanzo Musyoka, Baringo senator and Kenya African Nation Union (KANU) party leader Hon. Gideon K. Moi , United Democratic Party (UDP) party leader and former Lugari MP Hon. Cyrus Jirongo and National rainbow Coalition of Kenya (NARC-K) party leader and former Gichugu MP Hon. Martha Karua signed a deal that formalises their working relationship as we gear towards general elections. The event was held at Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Command Center in Karen, Nairobi.
In a joint statement read by Gideon Moi the quartet promised to work together to secure the lives of Kenyans, engage in public activities in various parts of the country, engage with like-minded political parties, tolerate no corruption and explore natural resources to create employment and generate revenue that will help to repay the overburdening national debt.
“This is an affirmation of our commitment to standing firm together and focus on securing the lives of Kenyans. Additionally, we have finalized the OKA coalition agreement which details the nature and extent of our political engagement and cooperation as partners. Therefore, on Monday, February 28, 2022 we shall officially deposit it with the registrar of political parties as OKA coalition.
We finally will officially and publicly unveil the One Kenya Alliance coalition and demonstrate how our vision will fundamentally transform Kenya as a build up towards the official unveiling we have lined up a series of public engagements activities to be hosted by our constituent political parties and partners in various parts of the country.
Our resolve emanates from the resilience we have witnessed among Kenyans in our recent political tours indeed they deeply desire leadership with a solemn responsibility to build a responsive and sustainable economy, promote the rule of law and restore the decency of living within our borders.
As an alliance governed by values and principles of equality, equity, sustainable development, citizens empowerment and zero tolerance to corruption we are open to honest engagements with other political formations which we share ideologies.
This shall involve structured and open negotiations which must include resolution of the country’s crippling debt portfolio and discussion of exploration of our natural resources to address the debt and create employment for our largely unemployed youth among other important issues.
As of today several other political parties have expressed interest in joining the coalition. This is because we believe that the diversity in our nation call for heterogeneity of minds and ideas to effect impactful changes.
We urge Kenyans to exercise their civic duty to register as voters in the remaining four days of the enhanced voter registration. God bless OKA. God bless Kenya.” Moi said.
They said they are ready to form coalition with other political formations provided the mode of engagement is open, inclusive, transparent and fully consultative. In such engagements OKA will invoke party organs like national executive council (NEC).
Kalonzo said that there is no urgency since they have up to the 9th April 2022 to form any political coalitions adding that they are willing to receive other Kenyans who are ready to join their alliance and not them join others.
To qualify to join OKA some of the basic considerations include commonality of ideology, non-corrupt and basic interest of Kenyans.
On her part NARC-Kenya party leader said that their coalition will allow a room for members to join as well as exit.
“We must all agree that a coalition is not a jail where the doors are closed, the doors remain open for incoming partners and everybody is free to exercise their freedom.” Karua stated.
She added that there is an ongoing negotiation between OKA and two organisations which she leads which are NARC-Kenya party and Mount Kenya unity forum.
Mt Kenya unity forum which met yesterday had already initiated talks with OKA parallel to NARC-Kenya’s talk because I also lead NARC-Kenya party, and you have had the statement that this coalition is open to the like-minded
In the same meeting UDP party leader claimed that OKA has an advantage over the rest of political party coalitions as their team enjoys the tyranny of numbers, experienced and principled leadership.
