Worth Noting:
- Having a discussion with fools they try to persuade or force you to take their view which is already misguiding.
- It may happen that your senior family members’ argument is wrong when you try to show them the true position; they are unwilling to change their views. Instead of further arguing with them more so if the issues are not related it is only wise to state to them your opinion and leave the issue.
- That way you have already played your role, with time the truth shall come to the right, if they were right, they will succeed in their current standing if otherwise they will be forced to change their viewpoint.
You’re leaving now
It’s in your eyes
There’s no disguising it
It really comes as no surprise
To find that you planned it all along
I see it now
Becomes so clear
Your insincerity
And me all starry-eyed
You’d think that I would have known by now
Now, sure as the sun will cross the sky
This lie is over
Lost, like the tears that used to tide me over
One thing is sure
That time will tell
(Only time will tell)
If you were wrong
The brightest ring around the moon
Will darken when I die
Above are excerpts of the song only time will tell by English artists Geoff Downes and John Wetton in their Asia music group.
Jamaican reggae artist Robert Nester Marley famously known as Bob Marley had sung a related song named as time will tell.
A general explanation of the phrase only time will tell the truth or correctness of something will only be established at some time in the future.
The phrase is usually used whenever there is doubt of issues happening and there are expectations that with time issues will settle down and there will clarity, the parties involved will have taken sides.
In the bible book of proverbs chapter 26 verses 1-5 it tells us that like snow in summer or rain in harvest, honor is not fitting for a fool. Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest. A whip for the horse, a halter for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools!
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.
In this chapter we are urged not to argue with fools or people of little understanding lest we be seen to be like them.
Having a discussion with fools they try to persuade or force you to take their view which is already misguiding.
It may happen that your senior family members’ argument is wrong when you try to show them the true position; they are unwilling to change their views. Instead of further arguing with them more so if the issues are not related it is only wise to state to them your opinion and leave the issue.
That way you have already played your role, with time the truth shall come to the right, if they were right, they will succeed in their current standing if otherwise they will be forced to change their viewpoint.
If someone approaches you for advice you need to listen to him then as per your understanding give him a solution. Should you discover that person has already made decision but just wanted to hear your opinion about the matter you should not hesitate to make your fair opinion known to him.
If he opts to follow it or otherwise then you cannot be blame nor feel guilty as you have done your role to the best of your knowledge. In future should he approach you and revisit the same issue then you need to ask him whether he took your advice if he did well and good.
If he ignored it and succeeded well and good. If he ignored your advice and failed then he will see your advice was correct. You can confidently say that time have helped him know the true position that he was supposed to take.
In the bible book of Mathew chapter 13 verses 1-9 & 13-23 Jesus taught the masses the parable of the sower and it reads as follows:
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.
As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
The interpretation of this parable is of importance to anyone who teaches others or gives opinion of any sort as it brings the aspect of how passage of time helps to determine who took action to any advice disseminate to him and to what extent.
A teacher may not be able to judge whether the learners have understood what he have taught them but if he examines them through asking questions he can be able to determine to what extent they have understood the subject.
A sower of seed ensures he have put it in soil, there moisture, temperature, manure and all other essentials for germination are provided then waits for it to germinate.
Fruits like bananas once they mature, they are allowed time to ripen and then they are consumed that is when you knew how good they are.
Time is a great revealer of many secrets. Let us learn to be patient with issues which do not require rush and those which are currently unclear to us.
