As representatives of the people, you have a crucial responsibility to ensure effective governance and service delivery in Meru County. However, in the case of Governor Kawira Mwangaza, I urge you to consider giving her more time to address the concerns raised and work towards fulfilling her manifesto commitments.
Governor Mwangaza is a first-term leader facing significant challenges, including allegations of misconduct and a tumultuous political landscape. While it is understandable that you, as the county assembly, have a legislative duty to provide oversight and hold the executive accountable, repeated impeachment attempts may not be the most constructive approach.
I acknowledge that the governor’s actions have raised legitimate concerns among the public and the assembly. However, it is crucial to remember that she was democratically elected by the people of Meru County to lead and implement her vision for the county’s development.
