President William Ruto’s administration has invested heavily in Othaya constituency and that is the sole reason area Member of Parliament is supporting it.
Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina alias Kìrìma says projects worth billions of shillings have been invested in the area, with more being in the way.
Speaking when he was hosted by Inooro FM’s Nderitu Waihura on Wednesday night, Kìrìma revealed that he was not supporting the current government so as not to be investigated over tax evasion but was doing so out of realisation that it was the easiest way of enabling his constituents get various goodies from the government.
He said he is a law-abiding Kenyan, doing legitimate business and paying the required taxes as per the law.
Kìrìma further noted that there was no way one would oppose the government and expect to get favours from it.
He said he was optimistic that he was performing superbly well as he had initiated various development projects using the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF).
All public primary schools in the area have tiled floors with the next phase of development being putting cabro.
Further, he noted, through his foundation, he had built and upgraded houses of more than 400 less fortunate people in the area.
He said that unlike other leaders who are rarely available for the people who elected them, he is always available and is involved in community activities like building churches.
He said that apart from markets and the stadium whose construction is going on, a KSh1 billion affordable housing project is in the offing.
He said they had started an electrification project that will see at least 98 per cent of the area residents connected in the next six months.
On water tariff crisis, he blamed the area governor and county assembly for introducing a law that saw the cost increased despite protest by the locals.
At the same time, he urged the young people not to fall into the trap if being misused by selfish leaders saying people should judge leaders on what they are offering and not rhetoric.
He said the chaos and protests being witnessed in the country was affecting the business community with some being forced to close shops and retreat to home.
Further, he disclosed, business community were now unable to secure imports on credit, like in the past as dealers in other countries were fearful of the country’s stability.
